The Distorted DIAMOND. by D.V

Project 2 a
Exterior rendering .

The DISTORTED DIAMOND

This piece of architecture is actually my studio project.

My concept model which i ll model in 3ds max
Well, The first step was to reproduce my design in a cad form .
Using Autocad i drew all the relevant parts of my building which will be
relevant to my future references while modelling in 3D
Importing the Cad file is the next step
Then, I played with the shapes to make it 3D.
Some parts were extruded while others were calculated and done by
placing vertex.

The above picture shows the conversion of shape into plane.
Just by edit poly and then extrude.
The interior also was partly done. since some parts of the exterior
contain glass.
Adjusting the correct levels and floors.
Connecting them with ' create lines'
some parts of the walls were slide off to make openings.
Then, draw plane by plane for each facades.
The pathway, is basically made from a circle

I extruded it and play with my edit poly such as vertex to get the up
and down effects of the path.

The result of the pathway.
Ohhhh... how complex and confused it is XD .

ADDING TEXTURES AND MATERIALS

Assigning the adequate materials to the facades.
Here is a material which i bitmap.
I also bump map the material to make it look more real.
Applying it to the selected material.
This one is a screenshot of my Photoshop in which i turn the bitmap image into
white and black then play with the levels.
This is to bump the image later
This is for the glass.

Nearly all the textures and materials inserted onto the object were edited and
adjusted by using UVW map .

Play with the scale and the object to make it real

adjustment of materials.

I also intended to put the light effect inside above the water  path.

I extruded it to make it glow.
This is the glow effect after applying and playing with the function of GLOW .
After this, i drew a large plane to represent the water.
Modify the plane's segments to a large number, then modify it to displace.
Eventually, the effect of wave and ripples are applied to it, to
make it more realistic.

Applying water effect on the plane.

 Writing the building name.

Apply text and write the name
extrude the text to the desire height.
Place the text in the correct angles along the inclined plane.
Use basic commands such as rotate and move.

Apply the adequate material onto it.
I also wanted to make the name glow at the back ...
so as at night people can see it clearly.
so just clone the text and apply the GLOW effect at the back.

APPLYING DAYLIGHT, LIGHTS, AND ENVIRONMENTS.

Using the daylight, adjust the adequate and desire location of the sun .
Just for fun, I wanted my building to shine very bright inside.
I placed many omni inside, where the lamps should be placed
But this is a failure.
One omni was enough !! :P
quick rendering to see the effect of light.
Then place your camera in a good view and target it to the desired
view.
Rendering testing again to see the view of the camera.

Some RENDERING testing. Before adding context

Adding environment. to make it more realistic.
CONTEXT <3

Apply the desired image as environment and place your model
in a correct view.

Then  save in 1000px.

Photoshop has been used to edit some aspects, to make it
more realistic.
This is the other view. I inserted another environment and change the camera.

Final result.

I still need to refine it. IF the time allowed me to do so.
But, i think it is a nice try for a novice like me.  ^^!
Should improve. Long way to go until I reach a good level.
I need to acquire more skill and discover more functions of this awesome software.
